BACKGROUND
India is considered among the leading destinations for
doing business, especially in the service sector. With the
best available skilled, managerial and technical manpower
in the world, India has a distinct advantage in the
service sector to face global competition, in
addition to its favorable costs. On the one hand, the
growth of the service industry in India has been
broad-based, although phenomenal, in communications,
business and finance. On the other hand, there are various
challenges in terms of infrastructure, security, quality
and policies. The World Bank report on India, as a
destination for business, emphasizes the immediate need to
address these challenges. To enable an in-depth discussion
of ideas on this important theme, IFIM Business School is
organizing the 4th International Conference on "Doing
Business in India - opportunities and Challenges in the
Service Sector" on the 11th - 12th of January, 2012.
