Globally companies are realizing that CSR not only
contributes significantly to their growth, revenues,
profits and employee retention in the short term but more
importantly their long term survival and prosperity
depends on being a good corporate citizen and be seen as
one. Corporations across the world are thus working
towards a corporate stewardship based model under which
they fulfill a dual role via act in conformity with
societal expectations and endeavor to minimize/ ideally
eliminate negative environmental impact.
In keeping with the growing role, relevance and the accent
placed on CSR by the govt.of India, psus, private sectors
including mnc’s we at IFIM B school are also exploring the
possibility of building, promoting and strengthening,
through various strategic tie-ups and partnerships,
intra-state, regional, national and international
alliances for undertaking academic oriented CSR
initiatives for the mutual benefit of all the
stakeholders.
CSR initiatives at IFIM B school
At IFIM B school, students carry out CSR projects and
study ngo & cross-sector. CSR initiatives with a view to
identify and link academic & research interventions to the
academic and co-curricular frame work.
Projects and
seminars enable students to understand & appreciate
inter-alia issues pertaining to:
- The role of CSR in the corporate sector (public
& private)
- Evolving innovative partnerships between
business, governments & ngo’s and examine the
resultant impact on shaping socially responsible
business practices in the corporate sector.
- Building cross sectorial and sustainable
partnerships
- Developing ngo capacity for engagement with the
private sector on CSR initiatives

In order to sensitize students to societal issues,
concerns and problems, CSR initiatives at IFIM B School
operates at two distinct levels:
- One- academic initiatives (to include foundation courses)
and
- Two- hands- on involvement in community work with ngo’s
through club activities academic initiatives.
We offer a foundation course each on CSR and business
ethic’s as an integral part of the academic curriculum.
Over the years out students have found both the courses
extremely engaging besides, of high relevance to them as
well as to the corporate sector. At one level, the CSR
programme enables the student to examine various
possibilities of integrating CSR into all functional
systems and processes and understand how these impact the
overall business performance. At the other, students learn
to appreciate the impact of CSR on issues covering
leadership, governance, company policies, organisational
culture, etc.
Extra-curricular activities & hands-on involvement with
ngo’s
At IFIM B School, CSR is not just about academics alone.
In order to recognise and reflect the growing importance
of CSR as a everyday concern, we have institutionalized
CSR and elevated it to the status of a compulsory
extra-curricular activity intertwined with the pgdm (ib)
programme. Consequently, it now forms an integral part of
the student activity as an exclusive student club.
Students are required to visit ngo’s to observe, note,
interact and learn in a real-time setting. we believe that
these visits will not only give them a deeper
understanding and insight of the issues that are dealt
with in the class room but more importantly becomes a
talking point about issues such as health, hygiene,
literacy domestic harmony and the like that would shape
and impact their overall personality.
