IFIM had the pleasure of meeting and hearing Mr. Amit
Agnihotri toady during his visit to the campus.
Mr. Amit spoke on entrepreneurship and was
successful in encouraging, engaging everyone while sharing
his real life experiences on how he reached the pinnacle
in online marketing in such a short period. And yes IFIM
also has many students who wish to become great
entrepreneurs in times to come.
Mr. Amit introduced himself as a serial entrepreneur,
academician and marketing expert all rolled into one and
said that his lifelong passions are education and media.
His vision is to see India as No 1 global destination for
management talents and skills, and Triumph MediaTech &
MBAUniverse.com as a catalyst in the process.
He said that he is perusing a doctorate in marketing
strategy area and has lectured at several top tier
B-school including IIM Ahmedabad, MDI Gurgaon, IIT Delhi (DMS),
FMS Delhi.
He spoke about how after completing his MBA from MDI
Gurgaon, he served the corporate sector working at World’s
leading companies.
And , later 2000, he co-founded 100 people strong
exchange4media Group which today owns many media brands
including exchange4media.com, Pitch Magazine and Impact,
Reality Plus, and Franchise Plus.
It was really a great experience for all IFIM students,
faculties and staff to have Mr. Amit on the campus today.

Topic: Importance of VM and
real time challenges
Mr. jayanth shared his enriched experience in the area
of visual merchandising and its importance to the growing
organized retailers in India has to shared among IFIM
student fraternity. He spoke on Importance of VM and real
time challenges that the retailers have to face in
improving and implementing VM in retailing. Also the
challenges that the retailers will face in understanding
the measuring problems and linkages between the profits /
sales to investment made on VM was found interesting by
all IFIM students.

Lecture by Dr.Gowri Shankar
Dr. Gowri Shankar, finance professor from
university of Washington, Bothell addressed PGDM students
in the auditorium on 3rd August, 2011 on “Should managers
focus solely on maximizing share holders wealth, lessons
from the US experience”.
He started his lecture
with a brief history of corporate focus in 1950’s and 60’s
and increase in complexity, competition and social
pressures faced by companies in 1970’s , US stock market
boom of 1980’s and 1990’s to recession in the last 3 to 4
years in the US. He shared the Chicago school view on
managerial objective with reference to Milton Friedman’s
paper on social responsibility of business and Jensen & Meckling categorized agency problems and potential
solutions. He also shared his views on consequences of
share holder’s wealth maximization. It was concluded that
though there are advantages and drawbacks to this maxim,
stake holder’s interest may come back in the US, Europe
and Japan and promoters will continue to play the
balancing role. Post lecture, Prof. Gowri Shankar
interacted with the students.

by Mr. Vijay Chavan- 01, Aug, 2011
Mr. Vijay Chavan, Co-founder & executive Director,
C2LBIZ, shared his three decades of rich work experience
of doing business in Asia-pacific region with the
students.
The major focus of the lecture was on the
importance of the micro aspects of cultural and business
etiquettes in cracking a good business deal or negotiation
in Asian countries. Mr. Vijay Chavan made it very
interesting and light for the students by comparing these
across Western countries , Asian countries and India.
Message to the students: “be punctual in any thing you do
and say”.
Guest Lecture
by Dr. P Muthukumar from CII-IL
Dr. P Muthukumar spoke about the career opportunities
for Management graduates in the streams of supply chain
management and Logistics. He also stressed on the
additional level of this subject knowledge required for a
management student, irrespective of whatever sector they
pick up for their career.
